Happy Birthday N

Happy Birthday N

Here it is finally,a long overdue post on another birthday that we celebrated at the starting of this month.

🥳 Ms. N turned FOUR. 🥳

Oh,did I mention? Our birthdays,Hers and mine are just a week apart.Birthdays are big deal in our house,it has to be loud and fun even if it’s just us 4.So the week leading up to her birthday is always a busy week for me,shopping and planning for her big day.

This year she wanted a Frozen cake, yes we are still big fans of Elsa and Anna!Trying not to go overboard with the characters,I went ballistic with the color BLUE. Blue balloons, blue cake and blue birthday dress🤪

When asked if she would like any specials on her birthday, prompt came the reply “Vanilla cake and Palak Paneer with Naan”.

This time instead of ordering the cake,I baked two cakes from a recipe that was shared by a very dear friend,Vanilla for Ms. N and Chocolate for Ms. Curious.

Why two you ask?Well my Curious is a chocolate lover and I kid you not when I say this, she won’t touch anything that’s not chocolate, even if its her sister’s birthday cake🙄.

Being a parent is no easy job.

A dollop of fresh homemade blue whipped cream with loads of frozen sprinklefetti courtesy the girls who went tad crazy with the sprinkles, made up for the frozen theme. An hours hard work and Voila!the cakes were ready.

The twinkle in her eyes as she admired the cake was hard to miss 😍.

On her birthday we were invited to join her birthday circle at school. We logged in virtually to find all the kids sitting a big circle with a candle in the center and Ms. N holding a globe in her hand.

Birthday circles are Montessori style of celebrations where a candle representing the sun is lit and kept in the center of room and labels with names of each month are placed around the candle in a circle radiating from the sun.The birthday child then stands next to their birthday month with a globe which represents the earth in his/her hand and goes around the sun completing one whole year on earth sharing some fun facts about themselves for that year. They go around the sun as many times as needed to reach their age finally blowing out the candle.

Montessori Birthday Circle

Ms. N went around the sun four times before finally blowing out the candle. Each time she went around she shared a picture of herself of that age while I shared some fun facts about Ms. N with her classmates. This was our first time witnessing the birthday circle.A whole new experience for us and by the end of the circle celebrations S and I were all teary eyed.LOL.

While Curious and she enjoyed the Palak Paneer and Naan,Alexa played the birthday song on a loop and we ended the day with video calls from her grandparents and loved ones from all over the world.

By the end of the day,we had one happy 4 year old ready to conquer the world as a BIG GIRL.

The lurking threat of pandemic is not yet over,so this year we kept it small with just two families from our bubble joining in for the celebrations over the weekend.

Food was simple North Indian menu of Amritsari Chole,Paneer Do Pyaza,Aloo Jeera accompanied by Raita,Jeera Rice and Butter Naans and the usual chaat for appetizers, which now is my signature dish in any party I host!

The kids had blast doing their thing upstairs while we grown-ups got to catch up on life. All in all I was happy that Ms. N got her birthday party albeit a small one.

Do you remember about my night time woes?Well I am very happy to report that we are all trained for over a month now.Yay,my trick worked and how!Oh yes !all her concerns were all taken care by our recent annual visit to the doctor who confirmed that she is growing just fine😂.

The most obvious change since she turned 4 is calling out “I am a big girl now” and using it to her advantage as needed.Well someone did grow up overnight🥺.

I see myself coming back to this post again and again in years to come to relive these cute moments when the girls are all grown up!Oh,how I dread those days.

Before I leave, here is a fun fact, both Ms. V and Ms. N share the same birth date. They were both born on the 1st.If you go by numerology ,number 1 people among other things are powerhouses of energy and natural leaders.Just imagine us living under the same roof with two energetic want-to-be leaders .

Yes life is tough for us parents😅

Well, I am done. That was Ms. N‘s 4th birthday celebrations in a nutshell.I did warn you, this one would be a long post 🙂
