Happy Birthday S

Happy Birthday S

πŸ’• Happiest birthday S πŸŽ‰

Aloha beautiful souls! How are you doing? What has caught your eye recently on your way to work or on your daily walks that brought a smile on your face? For me it’s the chirping of birds that accompany me on my morning walks.

My daughters were back at school on Monday after their 10 days long spring break. While the 10 days break was much appreciated by me, I am also glad to get back to my routine.

This Sunday saw us celebrating S’s 42nd birthday.πŸ’• Happy birthday SπŸŽ‰ . This year the spring break concluded with us stuffing ourselves with homemade chocolate cake and yummy chole bhature. The birthday boy’s favorite dishes, the menu didn’t change much from last year πŸ˜„πŸ˜›.

Birthday Celebrations

Holidays are always fun but by the end you are drained of energy. This break I honestly had zilch energy left in me to plan anything, so this once I kept the celebrations subtle, balloons and banners were skipped and we just concentrated on having fun.

I am so jealous of my husband, he got the cutest card from his dearest V . She made him a exciting birthday card 2 weeks in advance with zero help from me 😜.

She has been learning about LED’s at school all of last month. When the children were asked to pick a project, she choose to incorporate the idea with his birthday card πŸ’•.

The card turned out to be cute with blue twinkling eyes.If you are wondering, the dog on the card is not Ginger but S’s childhood dog Bruno. Read more about it here.

The Birthday Present

My unwavering determination finally paid off and S ended up sending me a link for his birthday present πŸ˜… exactly a week before this birthday. This year it was a watch. Saurabh and I LOVE our watches. We quite so often indulge in watches and have quite a collection that I take pride in😍 .

I was more than happy to buy his choice of watch, oh yes he happily wore it the whole day! I will gladly take that pat on my back now πŸ˜‚.

Chocolate Cake

Birthday chocolate cake came from Add a Pinch and it turned out to be absolutely delicious. Every year on his birthday I try to use a new chocolate cake recipe. Almost all turn out to be moist, yummy and are always approved by my chocolate loving family. You can find picture’s of previous year’s cakes here.

This year’s cake though was my personal favorite. I love love loved it! I have a slice of it next to me as I am writing this post *drops crumbs on the laptop*🫣.

As always I had help from my eager helpers in getting in all the ingredients and licking the leftovers. Little N was more excited about the licking the batter off the spatula. As you can see from the pictures she spotted me trying to click her in action and in an instant she was posing for the camera ! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜†

Ginger was not left out of the celebrations. She sat patiently next to S to eat her share of the cake. Of course she was disappointed when her master didn’t repeat his actions after she had devoured her share in less than few seconds πŸ˜‚.

She didn’t stay dispirited for too long, we had some other treat in store for her! She got sprinkles loaded colored water popsicles that the girls specially prepared for their dad. Which daddy dearest was very happy to share with the dog πŸ˜‚.

Chole Bhature

I cannot tell you how times my friend Satya must have asked me for a recipe only to call me back to say “It turned out nothing like I tasted at your place, you definitely forgot to tell me somethingπŸ˜‚ “. Cooking can be more fun when I can just use a pinch here and handful there, following a recipe doesn’t come easily to me ever!

So on this birthday I wanted to switch things up a bit and try something new and that is why for once I followed recipes from internet.

This year I followed recipes, chole came from Hebbar’s Kitchen and bhature came from my friend Pankaj‘s recipe (which turned out to be pillowy soft and fluffy!). The food was finger licking good. It was nice change of taste. The birthday boy enjoyed his brunch of hot bhature and chole, passing on many compliments !

Birthday Treat

For his birthday treat the birthday boy took us to watch the Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in theater. Our last movie in a theater as a whole family was in the month of November 2019 when we watched and loved Frozen II.

I won’t say much about the movie except that I don’t remember the last time I was bored to sleep in a theater πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ. Sorry, if you thought I would be all “aww it was such a cute family moment“.

Birthday Selfies

Back home S cut his birthday cake and we took million selfies to get just one right πŸ˜‚! This Sunday saw us celebrating S’s 42nd birthday.πŸ’• Happy birthday SπŸŽ‰.
