Happy Birthday To Me

Happy Birthday To Me

Who had a fun weekend? Who went out and came back a year wiser, prettier, smarter and all the affirmative ‘er’s” this weekend. Oh well, if you haven’t guessed it yet! Yes it was me.

“Happy Birthday to me..”

My birthday falls in the same week as the mid winter break and that makes it easier on S to plan a family vacation and also pass it on as my birthday getaway too! Smart chap :).

This time it fell on a Sunday, so technically speaking we started the celebrations outside of Seattle making it home just in time to cut the cake ,giving us enough time to get ready for the big Monday.

Its always S who finds a place and does all the needed bookings, I do the planning on “things to do” I’ll take the credit for this vacation though, ever since the pandemic , we have been very apprehensive about spending time out of home like most of you, however I finally summoned the courage and told S to plan something for this break.

He apparently had been eyeing Seabrook for a while now and before I could change my mind , the days were booked.

We reached Seabrook ,Washington’s first beach town on Thursday evening after 3 hours of drive. The first thing that strikes you as you enter the town are the pretty lined up cottages overlooking the Pacific ocean ( I will cover more specific details about this town in my next post ) .The whole town is like a pretty scene plucked straight out of a Hollywood movie.

S had booked a quaint country cottage overlooking the forest to be our home away from home for next 3 nights. Our cottage was decked in bright cushions and beach décor as I had anticipated most rentals around the beaches have sea theme to them. I liked that the owners had personals photos in the house and a story about how they came to own this cottage.

Kitchen was well equipped with pots and pan and had some fun colorful crockery. The kitchen door opened to this oversized deck overlooking forest that boasts of many trails. Down below was a the grill station and a fire pit to keep us warm.

The best part hands down for girls was the attic-playroom. Girls went crazy when S pulled down the the rope to reveal the stairs to the playroom. The place was filled with bikes with a race track painted on the floor.

We had fun exploring the trails, giving S some lone time. Fallen trees, mushy land, muddy puddles and broken branches made the whole experience rather worth while. Curious led the way , guiding Little and I as we followed her directions into winding trails.

Waiting for the waves

My favorite part though was the beach, a 10 minutes walk from our cottage. All the trails lead to the blue breathtaking ocean. The stairs that lead down had a mystical feel to it. It was cold given its Pacific North West , but for most part we got clear skies. A quite walk , a little play in the sand, chasing the waves, just plain old fun.

Mornings were spent going at the beach, afternoons in attic, exploring the trails and evenings were spent playing board games and finishing up on the last two Harry Potter movies.

We did catch up some yummy ice cream. For most part though we kept cooking to minimum as we carried easy to prepare stuff. S took over the kitchen for 3 days while I chilled out with girls. While he grilled some chicken , I learnt some footballs tricks from Curious.

It was a very relaxed vacation with no specific agenda. Unwind and Relax.

This little vacation was a much needed break and I am very glad we got to spend it safely. Its been a tough time for everyone and here’s hoping that soon we all can go make more fun memories.

I cannot end this post without mentioning how this birthday was made extra special by those heartfelt notes and calls from dearest and nearest ones. Each one is close to my heart. Thank you my tribe❤❤

That’s all for now. Thank you for stopping by and reading a page from my life!
