Mini Easter Egg Hunt 2022

Mini Easter Egg Hunt 2022

Good morning my amazing tribe. How’s your day looking? What has been inspiring you this entire month? I am on my second book of the month Atomic Habits An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear. Though the book came out in 2018 and became an instant hit, it has again been making rounds on internet as one of must read books this year. It’s a short listen of 6 hours and I am already halfway through. I’ll let you know how it goes for me.

We don’t celebrate Easter but when has that stopped us from enjoying the fun tradition of Easter Egg Hunt?

S’s birthday fell on the same Sunday as Easter Sunday. It was also the last day of girls spring break after 10 days spring break. This year unlike last year the egg hunt was a low key affair, the girls are lucky that I didn’t drop the idea altogether.

After a morning of birthday celebration and 10 days long spring break I was ready to put my feet up and eat some of that delicious cake I had baked for the birthday. Alas the mother’s guilt overpowered my need to rest and so we did a mini egg hunt on Sunday.

First Egg Hunt

The first time the girls participated in a egg hunt was in March of 2018. Back then along with my next door neighbor we took our girls to a well known mall, Redmond Town Center for some fun egg hunting.

Going to individual stores to get easter egg hardly seems fun and quite honest the opposite of what I had hoped for the girls. Unfortunately for girls the eggs were all gone by the the time we went to the mall and as expected the smiles turned into upside down.

When things don’t go your way eat a cup cake and chill. We stopped at the Seattle’s own cupcake store, Pinkabella to treat ourselves to their delicious moist cupcakes. By the the time we were done the shops had restocked their supply of eggs.

Yay for the girls, finally they got to fill their baskets with eggs and the frowns turned into a big smiles.

Egg Hunt 2022

By the time we came home from the movie the sun was shinning down upon us. With the crazy weather of hail storms and rains that we had endured the entire week leading to Sunday, it made sense to to do the egg hunt while sun was out. Who knew what Seattle weather will throw at us next?

The girls quickly brought out the eggs I had picked up from Dollar store and CVS few weeks back and filled it with candies and leftover Knick knacks we had from N’s 5th birthday party.

This year the treasure was a Easter Lego set that would be shared later by both the sisters after the hunt. I took one of the baskets filled them with 14 brightly colored eggs and set out to hiding them. Some were hidden in the front yard and rest in backyard.

Since Ginger’s arrival let’s just say our backyard has been converted in to a mini fortress. The then young puppy was on a mission to dig her way out of our backyard into our neighbor’s house😂 . Husband did what he had to maybe a bit more ! Thanks to the not-so-young-anymore puppy’s recent activities we have three big holes right in the middle of the lawn🤷‍♀️🤐.

The moot point is I had very less area to hide the eggs. It took them less than 20 minutes to find all the eggs. Of course there were many arguments over each egg! In the end as agreed they divided their loot equally among themselves.

We adults get so worked up over the smallest matter and here they were my girls despite all the squabbling smiling as they counted their candies.

End of Hunt

The smile on their faces as they opened the eggs they had filled just half an hour ago was priceless😍. I am acknowledging this now when they are not around. Yes you find your children adorable and moments priceless only in their absence 😛😂.

I am guilty of doing this over and over again🤷‍♀️😜. Later in the evening I set up another egg hunt indoors to satisfy their it-was-very-small-hunt. This time they took their time with the hunt.

After two hunts, it was time to call it a day. Next day was first day of school after a long break!

Well that is how we celebrated this year’s egg hunt. Short and sweet. How was your Easter Sunday? I am off to my next post. I have couple more to finish before April is done. Have a fun weekend. Adios.
