Sisters

Sisters

Those who know us from college days, are aware of ‘sister’ tag that we (Renu and I) carried. We were the famous(or infamous) sisters. We were more known because of the boy gang we mingled with, our dancing group, the staying back after college to catch up on gossip, for being Anup’s* (long story)best friends and of course, ah forget it, the list is endless. College was colorful.
Anyways the reason I happened to write is because the other day, I bumped into this girl, and after all the “Hi, remember me” and few mins later.

“Hows your sister”. Wow! Its had been 5 years since I last heard that word,it took me down the memory lane.

Trust me when I say this, it was easier to spot the sisters then just Anusha or Renuka, and when people did , it was always followed by “Where’s your sister”!
Well, alright, so we ended up in the same college, same course, shared the bench for the rest of the 4 years ,came on the same scooty, same gang(with few exceptions) and yeah we are  first cousins.

Between the two of us she was the studious one, the friendly one and could take care of both our messes while I was the “I took computer science because Aditya did!” and  the “I want to finish college, get married to this really rich guy . I am not going to work.”

While I walked the ramp she danced on ‘koi mil gaya” in the very first semester! And that was enough for the staff and rest of the janta to take a notice of us!
She always knew if a guy liked me, It never took her more than a min “Hey Anu, this guy likes you” and I always was the one “No way! He is just being nice”.She made sure that no one took me for a ride (for the most of the time). We made news on and off the campus, taazi kabhar of the day “hey Anup guess what? The sisters, they had been to first gate. Dude I saw them there”Toh kahan ghoom rahi thi tum dono?” “mat puch, tum dono ke baare mein aise hi paata chal jata hai”.
The gang was mostly bindass, bigaada, always into cultural activity, gang. We couldn’t help it, she from Army and I from Navy background, we just invariably got along well with like minded and for most part of it they happened to be from north. That did get us into trouble with the pro-kannadiga group! We had our share of scandals, I think our hit rate was one every semester. It was either because someone who told us something, or some girl liked some guy, who liked one of us or one of us said something that we shouldn’t have to this someone. .We were the back bencher’s who scored good. Marks were important even if we did all the masti!

Somewhere down the line, as time passed , we got closer to graduation and moved from being teen’s to twenty one’s. We grew up.
