Trails: Wallace Falls
Washington is known for its greenery and trails. On any warm day you’ll find trails thronged with hiker, young, old and even kids. With a bucket list of hikes to complete there are those who hike throughout the year, even in peak winters!
No,I am not one of those hikers,I am though part of a facebook hiking group. Most days I am just admiring their grit as they share their conquests in the group !π
We started hiking just last year when our summer plans of going down to India were cancelled due to the pandemic!
We managed few easy trails with the girls in summer and surprisingly enough they did them without much of a fuss.
Until then I believed N was too young to take along but last year changed that!
This weekend we did our first hike of 2021,almost 4.2 miles out and back trail.A moderate difficulty trail ,Wallace Falls is a popular hiking trail that gets busy especially during the warmer months.
It took us about 3.30 hours from start to finish, starting around 12ish from the parking lot we were back by 3.30pm.
Nestled in the thick forest of evergreen trees the trail boasts of breathtaking views to the Wallace falls and we weren’t disappointed!
The hike was totally worth the stunning view of the Wallace falls. We hiked up to the middle falls before turning around and taking the longer Railroad Grade, a 2 mile biking trail back.
The trail gets narrow at many places making it tricky when you are with kid.You gain elevation as you head towards the falls, the girls managed it well whereas I was huffing and puffing for most climbing part π!
All along the way you are treated to moss-covered evergreen trees to clear water streams. The many wooden bridges make for a beautiful pit stop to just breathe in the scenery or take some pretty pictures and we did just that!
I was worried about the girls giving up mid way or rather N just giving up and refusing to climb! But Guess what ?We didn’t carry her once, she did the whole trail all on her two feet π.
Quick small breaks along the way and lots of Good Job” π did the trick!
Ms. V was the most energetic in our group!Sprinting, smiling and ever ready for a photo.ππ.
We took our first break at the lower falls to grab a quick bite,I had carried couple of oranges, cheese sticks and sandwiches for the girls.Once they were done,we started our hike upwards to the middle falls!
Lower Wallace Falls Middle Wallace Falls
The Middle Falls overlook provides the best panoramic view of the Skykomish River and the valley.
The view is absolutely mesmerizing as you watch all elements of nature blend in perfect harmony.V for one was the happiest of the lot when we reached the middle falls.
Our way back was a relaxed hike as I took time to take random pictures of the beauty that we were surrounded by.V pointed out the uniqueness and I clicked! Here are some that caught our attention!
The names are just me being randomly creativeπ.
Under the Sea Mushroom Sorting hat Mushroom Ferns Two heads on one tree
We split into groups of two,N tagged along with me and V with her dad.
For the last two miles the spring birds kept us company treating us to symphony of tweets and songs, V even spotted a blue Jay perched on a tree branch!
For the remaining last mile slugs, butterflies and clear water streams kept the kids spirits high.
It was a fun energetic hike.Everyone had a good night’s sleep after the hike.π
How I wish I could visit India and be around with my parents , however in the light of things I wont be visiting home anytime soon.Until then here is to a summer full of hikes and prayers to heal the world.
Stay Safe.οΏΌ
